Why You Should Book Your Christmas Photos in Jun

I know. You're sitting there in shorts, sipping an iced coffee, wondering why on earth your photographer is talking about Christmas. Maybe you've even muted my stories before because of this exact post.
But hear me out — because the people who book early? They get the best dates, the best pricing, and zero holiday-season panic. And the people who wait until November? They get stress-sweating through three kids in matching outfits while running 20 minutes late to a session that almost didn't exist.
Let me paint you a picture.
The November Booker vs. The June Booker
😬 The November BookerTexts me on October 30th asking if I have "anything available in the next few weeks." I reply with what I have left — which at that point is a weekday at 5pm in December. She takes it because she has no choice. She has to pick the kids up early, skip dinner and rush over to the studio. The kids are tired and hungry. She's stressed. She gets her photos. They're fine. | 😎 The June BookerPicks her ideal Saturday in October when the she still has months to plan. She gets the 10am slot. She snagged early-bird pricing and saved herself money. She shows up relaxed, the kids are in a good mood, and she's already mentally designing her Christmas card while I'm editing. |
Same photographer. Very different experience.
The Real Reasons to Book Your Holiday Session NOW
1. The best dates go first — embarrassingly fast.
October and early November weekend mornings are gone by August. Every year without fail. If you want a Saturday session during peak time, you are competing with every other family who also wants exactly that. The early bird does not just get the worm. The early bird gets the perfect session on Saturday while everyone else fights over a Tuesday at dusk in December.
2. You'll actually save money.
Early booking pricing is real. Locking in your session now means you pay the lowest rate before prices increase closer to the season. Think of it like flights — the people who book in advance pay less. The people who book the week of pay for the privilege of procrastinating. Prices always go up in August/September.
3. You'll have your photos in time to actually USE them.
If you want a real, printed, mail-it-to-grandma Christmas card, you need photos done by early-to-mid October at the latest. Printers get backed up. Design takes time. Shipping takes time. Life takes time. Booked in June? Your session happens in September or early October, photos are delivered, cards are ordered, and you're done while your friend is still trying to find an open slot with anyone.
4. Your future self will thank you profusely.
November you is dealing with school concerts, work deadlines, holiday shopping, and approximately 47 other things. June you has exactly none of those problems. Be kind to future you. Book now.

FAQ: The Objections I Hear Every Year
"But it's only June, I haven't even thought about Christmas." I know. That's kind of the whole point of this post.
"What if my kids look different by fall?"They'll be slightly taller and still adorable. I promise this is not a valid reason to wait.
"What if I'm pregnant and not sure of my due date?"Book it anyway and we'll adjust as needed — I do maternity, newborn, and family sessions. We'll figure it out together.
"What if something comes up?"Life happens! Give me enough notice and we'll work together to reschedule.
